Obituary of Peter TRACH

TRACH, Peter It is with full, yet saddened hearts that we honor the life of Peter Trach who passed away on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18th with loved ones surrounding him. In his 88 years, Peter married his sweetheart, Leona Kuziw, then farmed, repaired the railway, drove school bus, plus owned and operated hotels. Yet, since 1928, he lived life simply; gardening, fishing, camping, traveling and attending the birthday parties of his 4 children, the hockey and ringette games of his 9 grandchildren, and playing catch with his 11 great grandchildren. Friends will remember his love of the harmonica and CMT, wedding dances, family events, parade floats, and his smile, belly laughs, or index-finger waves –particularly at his humble Wheatland Lodge home. Peter was proud to celebrate his birthday on Canada Day, July 1st. Peter was predeceased by his parents, John & Katie Trach, his wife, Leona, numerous family members, and 11 siblings. His legacy includes his 4 children and their families: Shannon (Doug) Savard of Langley, B.C. (Jeremy, Lindsay), Linda Jensen of Oyen, AB (Alissa, Kristen, Chelsey & Garrett), Keith (Sheri) Trach of Okotoks, AB (Lyndon, Kyle), and Tammy Abernethy of Calgary, AB (Justin). Peter will miss his dear companion, Louise Ries. Funeral services will be conducted by Wheatland Funeral Home with Pastor Dawn Nelson officiating, on Saturday, June 24th, at Lord of All Lutheran Church (Strathmore, AB) at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to Diabetes Canada (#204, 2323 32 Ave., NE, Calgary, T2E 6Z3 or click here to donate online).
