Obituary of Arthur Michael MERKEL

MERKEL, Arthur November 22, 1931 – December 7, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather after a long, full, and productive life. Art spent his early days as a grader operator building roads in Rockyford and St. Paul County and farming at the family farm. He enjoyed wood working, gardening, and spending time with his family. Art’s memory will live on through his wife Connie; sons Jim (Sherry), Mike (Kari), and Dennis Merkel; daughters Debbie (Dennis) Kiemeny, Carol (Lance) Jamieson, and Val (Steve) Seabourne; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, brothers and sisters, and daughter Judy Merkel. The family thanks the staff at Sagewood community in Strathmore for all their kindness to Art and their personal and medical support while he lived there. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Wheatland Funeral Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with reception to follow. Pastor Robert Huse officiating.
