Obituary of Linton Edward Treacy

Linton passed away peacefully at Strathmore Hospital on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the age of 91 years. He was born on March 3, 1928 at the Holy Cross Hospital, Calgary to Willard and Lily Treacy, the eighth of nine children. His grandfather moved to the Wintering Hills area in 1901 thus establishing over a century connection to the Hussar area. Linton loved farming, animals, trees and especially music. True to his Irish ancestry, he loved visiting with people, sharing a good story and making music.

Linton was predeceased by an infant son Clinton, his parents and all of his siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Donna; his four children: Alison Bumstead (Don), Heather Treacy (Joe Nahman), Willard Treacy (Jeanne), and Holly Rawlek (Mark); thirteen grandchildren: Michael Bumstead (Sarah), Justin Bumstead (Daniella), Lisa Bumstead, Angela Treacy (Josh), Christopher Treacy (Marley), Russell Treacy (Raine), Catherine Rawlek, Luke Rawlek (Faith), John Rawlek, Maria Rawlek, Julia Nahman, David Nahman and Michelle Nahman; 2 great grandchildren: Stephen and Daniel Bumstead.

To celebrate Linton’s life, a funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Hussar at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Emma Armstrong Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Hussar Branch of Chinook Financial (Box 40 Hussar AB T0J 1S0) or any branch of Chinook Financial.
