Eugenie was born in Poland. She grew up on a farm before having to flee to Germany during the war. She spent 7 years in Germany before immigrating to Canada at the age of 25. Eugenie met her husband in 1956 and they were married on February 22, 1957. They moved to Kitimat, BC shortly after their wedding and raised their two children there. Eugenie was very talented as she had taught herself to knit, crochet, took sewing lessons and made the majority of her clothes. Later she learned to sew drapes both commercial and residential. She loved to entertain, cook and bake. Eugenie had the gift for flower arranging. She made flower arrangements for many family and friend’s weddings. They moved to Abbotsford, BC when they retired, where they spent the next 20 years gardening and entertaining. Eugenie and her husband moved to Strathmore, AB in 2006 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Eugenie always loved to be social, she could always strike up a conversation with everyone. She loved to join in with all the activities and especially loved to play horseracing at the Wheatland Lodge.
Eugenie missed her husband of 61 years dearly when he passed away in March of 2018. It was like a part of her was missing. On what would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary she went home to be with him in Heaven.
Eugenie’s family would like to thank Dr Sader, Dr Belyea and all the nurses at the Strathmore Hospital for caring for her with kindness and compassion in her final week. We would also like to thank the staff at Wheatland Lodge and Sagewood.
Her family and friends will always remember her love and kindness.
