Obituary of Derek James Smith
Smith, Derek James (AKA: Meister Smith) Derek was born on August 21, 1978 in Edmonton, Alberta and passed away at home in Strathmore, Alberta on April 28, 2020. Beloved son of Del and Jane Smith and proud father to Damion. Also survived by half-brother Kelly and special friend Jenn, numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many valued friends. Derek endured many health issues due to complications of Diabetes, which he faced with grace, valor, and humor. Predeceased by Grandparents Roland and Margaret Monilaws, Jim and Agnes Smith, and his Uncle Dan. We would like to thank Nicole and the Palliative Care Team from Strathmore Home Care for their amazing care and support. Also thank you to Nurses Next Door and Dr. Elford. Due to present circumstances there will be no funeral. We hope to have a celebration of Derek's life at a later date. Rest easy.
