Obituary of Dawn Joanne Ross

It is with great sadness that we announce on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, Dawn Ross, loving mother and partner passed away at age 62, after a short but very courageous battle with cancer. Dawn was born on February 11, 1958 in Beaverlodge, AB to Don and Tillie Barrett. She moved around a bit but ended up in Strathmore in 1991 and made it her home. Mom was a very extraordinary individual, especially when you consider everything she had endured. She leaves behind a family that she was very proud of. Mom loved her six children more than anything but she was really at her happiest when she welcomed her granddaughter into the family. 

Mom was predeceased by her son Jesse, her first husband Lawrence and her parents. She is survived and so lovingly remember by her children Erika Dalton, Erin Eklund, Adam Ross, Preston Montour, Connor Montour, her granddaughter Chloe Eklund, her partner Squint (Gerald) Montour and so many other people from family and friends and those friends who became family.

We would like to thank family and friends who gave everything in the last few months to help us. Also, the personnel of Strathmore Home Care, all the doctors and nurses of palliative care at Strathmore Hospital for the dedicated and compassionate care given. In lieu of flowers, mom requested donations in her name to Project HOPE, which she praised highly due to their work with Connor. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we will not be having a service at this time. We will announce a time when we can celebrate her life when we are able to embrace one another once again and give those hugs she loved so much.
