Obituary of Garry John Gieck

At 12:25 p.m. on Friday, June 5, our world was shattered by the passing of our beloved hubby, dad, and grampa.

The love for his family gave him the courage and determination to fight his 9-year battle (especially the last 8 months) which he fought with dignity, positive attitude, and crazy sense of humor. He tried so hard to stay with us and was the bravest man we could have known. We were so blessed to have had him in our lives for as long as we did but he just got so tired.

Left behind are Shelley, the love of his life for almost 49 years; son and best friend Jeff; special daughter Deanna; and grandkids Carley and Brody. Even though Garry wasn’t really a dog person, he sure loved his grandpups, Ziggy, Callie, Maverick, and Diesel. He is also survived by Andrea and Steve, and Tom and Patty.

A “Thank-You” to Dr. Ben Sader, Dr. Scott, Nicole, the awesome hospital staff who became family to us (we so appreciated the shared laughs, kind words, and hugs), to Roger Nelson for his visits, compassion, and prayers, to Value Drug Mart for putting up with my craziness. Lastly to our special angel Carley Flaws for her after hours visits, shopping, hugs, and help (peanut butter cookies helped!).

If friends so desire, donations in Garry’s memory may be made directly to Make-A-Wish Canada (makeawish.ca/waystogive).
