Obituary of Ronald Charles Westgard

November 30, 1942 - June 23, 2020

 

This isn’t your typical obituary but he also wasn’t your typical man. Words are not enough to describe the impact Ron Westgard had on those around him.
 

As a Father, Grandpa and Great Grandpa, he always made you feel safe and loved. There wasn’t anything that he couldn’t fix or a problem that he couldn’t solve. He supported his family in many ways, whether he was babysitting or cheering them on, encouraging them to do their best.
 

Dad was born in Tuberose, SK, to Henry and Anna Westgard. His younger years were spent in the Whitebear area and later in Leader, SK. He was a brother and uncle to many.  Coming from a large family of 14, many memories were made through visits to Leader and at Westgard family reunions. He taught us that you can never be too busy to call, talk or visit with family, no matter where they were. 
 

As a friend, you couldn’t ask for anyone better. He was always willing to lend a hand and made time for everyone. Wednesday nights were spent with the boys at beer and wings and his mornings were spent drinking coffee and solving all of life's problems.  In the winter, you’d likely find him at the curling rink while in the summer, he liked to hit the links. He was actively involved in the Strathmore Elks and was a proud member of the Boilermakers 146 Union. 
 

Ron was a man who always had a smile on his face or had a joke he wanted to share. His life touched everyone around him and the world is a little less brighter place without him.
 

In this time, as we try to move on without this powerful force in all our lives, we ask that you keep smiling, laughing and showing kindness to all. We can’t think of a better way to remember and honour this man because that is what he gave to the world everyday.
 

He will be greatly missed by his wife Linda, his children; Tracey (Marvin), Candace, Carrie (Dusty), Kyle (Chantelle), his grandchildren; Alisha, Devon, Kylene, Caitlynn, MacKenzie, Carson, Leland, Rylie, Shea, Zoe and his great grandchildren; Max and Mary.
 

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there was a private viewing for immediate family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to give this amazing man the send off he deserves surrounded by his family, friends and community.     

 

Life’s work, well done.
