Obituary of Marjorie Theresa Gibeau

Marjorie “Madge” Gibeau (née MacNeil) passed away peacefully on August 28th2020 in Strathmore Alberta at the age of 88.

She is survived by her son Gerard (Debbie) Gibeau of Eckville, daughter Anita Gibeau Fletcher (Andrew) of Cluny; grandchildren Justin (Chrissy) Davidson of Lethbridge, Kelita (Matthew) Gibeau of Hussar, Alicia (Joel) Dyck of Strathmore, Shelby (Landon) Gibeau of Black Falls, Dusty (Jamie) Gibeau of Rosemary, Lance (Brandy) Laschowski of St Paul and Cody Laschowski of Vancouver; great grandchildren Everleigh (Kelita), Drayton (Dusty), Zoe (Justin), Sage (Shelby) Ross (Lance); Sisters Eileen Muise and Betty Garneau of Nova Scotia, brothers George (Donna) MacNeil and Wally MacNeil of Nova Scotia, and sister Claire (Emile) Cretin of Cluny; sister-in-law Lydia MacNeil; former daughter in-law Tammy Cage-Parker, mother of Kelita, Shelby and Dusty. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Madge was born on December 29th1931 in New Victoria, Nova Scotia. After moving to Cluny in 1958, she worked as a girl supervisor at the Crowfoot Residential School where she met her husband Philip Gibeau and they married in 1960. Madge was an active member of the community; helping with the 4-H sewing club and was a member of the Cluny CWL for many years. Madge loved spending time with her grandchildren and entertaining guests in her home with a hot cup of tea. She spent her free time reading and loved to travel.

Madge was predeceased by her husband Philip Gibeau, a son Francois Gibeau in infancy, father James MacNeil, mother Marjorie MacNeil, brothers Joseph MacNeil and Cally MacNeil and sister Helen Angove.

Due to COVID-19 a private funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Madge directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation online at hsf.donorportal.ca.

The family would like to thank Meadow Lark Care Home in Strathmore who made her life comfortable and happy over the last 7 years.
