Deepest Condolences Dorothy, Shane, and Jodie. I look back to the years growing up at your house in our teenage years with so many happy memories of the hospitality, friendship, and happiness that Dwight and Dorothy provided Shane's many friends. Dwight always had a smile on his face, cared for us like his own kids, always opened his house and heart to us. I am grateful to have had the pleasure of knowing such a kind, caring man who was a great role model and showed us how to be a great Dad, friend, husband, etc, etc. Can't believe how much digging he did that one summer to put in that back garage. Glad we could help out with a few shovels or else there would have been nothing left of him.
So sorry for your loss. Wish I could have thanked him again for all the kindness, friendship, and printer ink! Hope after Covid we celebrate all the stories of his great life!

The world is less than today with such a great loss. I was so saddened to hear about “Mr.Vistie”. My heart goes out to you Dorthy, Shane, Jodi, and your families. Looking back on my childhood growing up on Claret St, so many of my cherished memories include The Vistie family. Dwight always had a kind, fun loving presence and if for any reason I got myself into a pickle, which did happened a time or two, Dwight and Dorthy were always there if I needed them, no questions asked (well maybe a few questions asked). My life is richer having been blessed with our families friendship and having known Mr.Vistie, sending so much love to you all. Again, so sorry for this great loss.

I will always remember Dwight & Dorothy’s visit to NS. After an evening we came to the house. Laurie & Dwight decided to have another drink on the patio despite encouragement from their wives to come in. With that Dwight said when in Rome do as the Romans do. With our visits to Alberta there was great hospitality. Dorothy & family I wish to express my greatest sympathy. You have lost a great man. We loved him.

We remember Dwight and Dorothy from the 1st time we met as neighbours in 1979 and became the best friends ever since. We travelled and we camped always a joy to be around and he was a competitor in horseshoes. Our condolences to Dorothy and Family. We love you.

Dorothy, Jodi, Shane and family, we send our condolences. I worked with Dwight at Murphy Oil up until his retirement. He was one super individual who made the everyone's day brighter. The stories he used to tell me were legendary, the Oilman's bonspiel in Elk Point, and the curling in Calgary, can't say anymore. I used to tease Dwight a lot about Hanna (family farm), he thought it was the Centre of the Universe. Just to get him worked up, I used tell him there's nothing but dust and tumbleweeds out there, his big hand would hit the table and say I'm full of it. (actually the words were more colorful). One of my most memorable moments was when we I picked him up at home and we drove to Del Bonita to check out some oi; wells. We had a sample of the oil in a glass bottle, the oil was high quality and green in colour. Dwight says, " I've never seen green oil before", having spent most of his career in heavy oil. He takes the cap off to smell it and then proceeds to tip it up to his mouth to drink it. I grabbed the bottle from his hand and said, are you F&%$King crazy. He says, " it looks so good I wanted to taste it" with a big laugh"
Well speedbump, you had the last laugh. Thanks for being such a good friend and we'll miss you
