Obituary of Stanley John McKINNON

McKINNON, Stanley John (Stan) October 31, 1940 – January 11, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Stan McKinnon. Stan passed away at Clifton Manor in Calgary, Alberta on Monday January 11, 2016 at the age of 75. He was born and raised in Arden, Manitoba, the second of 5 children. After high school he worked for a time in Winnipeg then moved to Calgary where he worked for ATCO Gas for 40 years as a Backhoe Operator. In 1975 he met his loving wife Corrine and they were married on June 26, 1976. They raised their family in Calgary and later after retirement they moved to Claresholm, Alberta. After the result of an illness, they moved to Strathmore, Alberta. Stan will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Corrine McKinnon of Strathmore, his 2 children Sheldon (Jen) McKinnon of Langdon, Marlane (Cam) Hunter of Strathmore; and his one grandson Malcolm (Mac) McKinnon aged 6. His oldest sister Edith Hosler, younger sisters Margaret (Johnny) Rygh, Loretta (Clarke) Bradley, Jean (Don) Kinnaird. As well as his cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Malcolm and Kathleen McKinnon, and brother-in-law Jim Hosler. Stan enjoyed camping, travelling and spending time with his family and friends. He will be truly missed. A celebration of Stan’s life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
