Obituary of Robert Thomas BURNE

BURNE, Robert Thomas (Bob) August 10, 1920 – January 3, 2016 After a long life, well lived, Bob passed away at Clifton Manor in Calgary at the age of 95 years. Bob was born in Gleichen, Alberta on the family farm where, after marrying the love of his life Gilberte “Gill” Corbiell, they continued to farm and raise their family until retiring into Gleichen. Bob later moved to the Wheatland Lodge in Strathmore. After the results of an illness, he moved to Clifton Manor in Calgary. Along with his passion for farming and family, Bob was a devoted member of the Gleichen Lions Club and the Royal Canadian Legion where, over the years, he held several different positions. Bob will be lovingly remembered and missed by his children James (Candie) Burne of Gleichen, Patrick (Ruth) Burne of Gleichen, and Yvonne (James) Gravette of Three Hills; four grandchildren, Michael, Cara, Andrea, and Garret; and three great-grandchildren, Eddie, Mack, and Olie. He was predeceased by his wife, Gilberte; parents Robert and Elizabeth; brother Brian; and sister-in-law, Joan. A celebration of Bob’s life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
