Obituary of Edmund Glenn Long

Peacefully at Strathmore Hospital, on Saturday, November 28, 2020, Edmund (Glenn) Long passed away in his 90th year. Glenn is survived by his wife Doris, his sons Gary (Renee) and Randy (Cindy) and his daughter Lorraine along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He will also be missed by his sister Yvonne, his nieces and nephews, his step children and step grandchildren. Glenn enjoyed a 50+ year career as a pilot and was a member of the Retired Airline Pilots Association.  Glenn shared countless stories with family and friends of his travels and adventures he was so fortunate to enjoy during his career. 

 

Glenn was born in Calgary on July 23, 1930 and raised in the farming community of Champion, Alberta  He then lived in Toronto & Montreal working for TCA (Air Canada) before moving to Gadsby, Alberta to farm and to raise his family while continuing to fly part-time.  He eventually moved to Calgary and married Doris where they lived for many years before returning to small town Alberta to establish themselves in Strathmore to enjoy their retirement years.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at both Age Care Sagewood Long-term Care and the Strathmore Hospital for all their exceptional care and support. 

Due to COVID restrictions there will not be an official service.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca)
