Obituary of Joan Marie Roberts

 

On Thursday, December 3, 2020, Joan Roberts (nee Kernaghan) of Strathmore passed away peacefully the age of 89 years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leslie “Tuffy”; eldest daughter, Lesley Marie Baird; parents, David and Nettie Kernaghan; three brothers, Gerald, Melvin and Robert; five sisters, Donna, Audrey, Sharon, Jackie and Linda.

Joan will be dearly missed by her family, daughter, Kathy of Ontario; granddaughter, Jilian (Charles); great grandson, Owen; daughter, Judy; grandson, T.J.; great grandson, Deakan; grandson, Aaron; great grandson, Seth, grandson, Joshua; granddaughter, Jana; son, Ronnie (Cecilia) Roberts; grandson, Jessie; great grandson, Joshua; Lesley’s children, grandson, Winston (Grace); great granddaughter, Jaydene; granddaughter, Angelia; grandson, Cory; great grandson, Acer; only surviving sibling, Norma Kernaghan; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends of her family.

 

Joan was a fun loving person all of her life, and talented in so many ways. Helping raise her siblings and then her own children, never a dull moment as Joan entertained everyone at her home and throughout her journey of years in work, sports and play.

 

She was an honorary member of the Ladies Auxiliary #10 and Royal Purple in Strathmore.

 

Joan will be sadly missed by all at Sagewood Care, caregivers, old and new friends and all those who crossed her path. Her last remaining years on Dawson Lake floor kept her here with us. The loving care she received was nothing but outstanding and our family is deeply thankful to all of you that touched her life and made Dawson her home.

 

We are all feeling the comfort of knowing she is again with her family and friends.
 

Joan will be cremated as per her wish, and due to Covid restrictions, no service will be held at this time.
