Obituary of Terry Gail Cox

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Wife and Mother, Terry Gail Cox at her home in the early morning of Wednesday, December 16 at the age of 52 years.

 

Born August 25, 1968 in Taber, Alberta to Hans and Diana Walstra, Terry lived most of her childhood in Strathmore, Alberta surrounded by her parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, many extended family members and close friends.  She married her high school sweetheart and eternal love, Dale Ronald Cox on April 21, 1990 in Strathmore and was a wonderful Mother to the 4 beautiful and loving boys she raised, whom she loved infinitely and was incredibly proud of the fantastic men they grew to be.

 

As a young woman she dedicated herself to caring for elderly persons as a private caregiver and later as a Practical Nurse in a retirement home.  Later in life after moving to Acme, Alberta to raise her family, she served as Head Caretaker at the Acme School.  She was a strong-willed, no-nonsense but incredibly caring and artistic soul who treasured visiting and keeping in touch with friends and family both in person when she could, or virtually on Facebook when she could not and had too many close friends and family to list all here.

 

Terry loved her family and friends above all, including her dear cat Kitty who was the apple of her eye.  She cherished any family event or outing such as family game nights, watching scary movies, visiting museums, trips to the zoo or animal park, but most loved camping trips and family vacations.  Her favourite destination was British Columbia, especially Vancouver Island, where she wished to spend her golden years. It was there she could experience her 3 favourite things at once – her family, the ocean and bears. She was a huge bear lover who collected bear items ceaselessly and was absolutely in love with the ocean.

 

Terry was predeceased by her mother Diana Mae Walstra in 2018.

 

Terry is survived by her husband, Dale Cox; her 4 children David (Ashley) Cox, Michael Cox, Brian Cox and Tyler (Julie) Cox; her father Hans Walstra; her in-laws Ron and Arlene Cox; her siblings Warren (Sheila) Walstra, Shari Walstra (Tony Carpenter), Darren (Beverly) Walstra and Arlene Walstra (Gary Heilman); her siblings-in-law Denise Cox (Graham Huddlestone) and Lynn Cox; and her nieces and nephews Braden (Stephanie) Walstra, Rachel (Jeff) Kemp, Jared Walstra, Mason (Nicole) Walstra, William (Elizabeth) Shearer, Stephen Walstra, Kyle Walstra, James Heilman, Clive Huddlestone and Lilith Huddlestone

 

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye, but we also celebrate that we were able to have you in our lives.

 

Rest in Peace Mom.  We love you more than we can ever say or show. May you enjoy Christmas in Heaven this year with your mom.
