Obituary of John Garry NIELSEN

NIELSEN, Garry It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Garry. He passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Center in Calgary on Nov. 21, 2015. Garry lived his entire life in the Chancellor, AB area. After high school, Garry attended Olds Agricultural School where he met the love of his life, Margaret. Garry spent his life farming and, in later years, doing woodworking and many forms of construction. Garry was always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was also generous to a fault. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. Garry will be greatly missed by his wife of 50 years, Margaret; daughter Kim (Truman) and their children Meryn and Thaya; son Roger (Sheri); daughter Kari; granddaughter Lacey (Andy) and their children Paige and Addison; grandsons Dalton and Tavish; granddaughter Kendall (Paul) and their children Shellby and Aurora; and granddaughter Kyra. He is also survived by his brother Allan (Judy); sisters May and Kay; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all of the staff on unit 38 at the Peter Lougheed Center for the care and compassion he received. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church (Hussar) at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to Camp Kuriakos (Site 8, Box 18, RR1, Sylvan Lake, AB, T4S 1X6), Samaritan’s Purse (20 Hopewell Way NE, Calgary, Alberta, T3J 5H5), or to your local food bank.
