Obituary of Margaret Jean SINGLETON
SINGLETON, Margaret Jean (nee Bradley)
May 11, 1943 – November 19, 2015
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of their mother, grandmother and sister, Jean Singleton at the General Hospital in Strathmore, Alberta on Thursday, November 19, 2015. Jean was born in Sudbury, Ontario and raised in Arnstein, Ontario. Jean married her teenage sweetheart and the love of her life, Lyal Singleton, on July 28, 1962. Together, they raised their son, Joe and daughter, Kathy. After raising her family to teenagers in Ontario, the family moved west to Alberta. After a brief stay in Calgary, Jean and Lyal moved to Strathmore in 1988. Jean enjoyed the company of family and friends and always had a house full. Jean’s passion was traveling, especially east to visit family in Ontario. Throughout her life Jean took many different jobs from receptionist to construction worker, whatever it took to help provide for her family. Jean enjoyed fishing, quadding and long trips in their motor home with Lyal and their canine companion, “Missy”. Jean treasured her family time and she and Lyal visited many wonderful places and attended several family reunions. She provided strong support to her children and then to her wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will all miss her dearly. Jean is survived by her son, Joe (Marilyn) and their children Troy, Jennifer (Alex) and their children Brandon, Kyla, Angelle, Emily, Logan and Chase; and daughter Kathy (Al). Jean will be greatly missed by her sisters, Marylou (Tony), Grace (Jim) and brothers, Richard (Gloria), Eddie (Eila), Roy (Bertha), Harvey (Linda) and Jack (Bonnie). Jean will also be missed by a host of extended family and friends. We have all been blessed for having had Jean in our lives. Jean was predeceased by her husband Lyal, sisters, Fern (Leslie), Joy (Andrew), Gloria (Harold), Christina (Jack) and brothers Gerald (Audrey), Clayton (Elsie) and Paul (Enid). Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. at the WHEATLAND FUNERAL HOME (202 Lakeside Boulevard, Strathmore, AB) Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Lord of All Lutheran Church (112 Lakeside Blvd. Strathmore, AB) at 11:00 a.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation (2888 Shaganappi Trail NW, Calgary, AB T3B 6A9).To send condolences, please click on the link below.
