Obituary of Marion Jean FREDRICKSON

FREDRICKSON, Marion Jean Jan 20, 1933- Oct 1, 2017 It is with great sadness we announce that Marion passed away peacefully at Southwood Nursing Home on Oct 1, 2017, at the age of 84 years. She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1974. Marion is survived by her loving children, Judy Bochek (Randy), Rodney Fredrickson, and Patty Radisic (Robert); and grandchildren Trent & Adam Bochek, Leslie & Barrett Fredrickson, and Mike & Chris Radisic. She also has 1 Great Grandchild, Emery Fredrickson (Leslie). She is also survived by one living sibling, Pat Dick. Marion is predeceased by one sister Rita; and two brothers Glen & Bert. She married her husband, Bill, in 1955 in Calgary where Judy and Rodney were born. In 1960 they moved to Strathmore where Patty was born in 1962. Bill passed tragically in an accident in 1974 at only 47 years old. Marion continued on her own raising their 3 children while running a gas (Purity 99;’ Trans Canada Royalite; Gulf) station with Rod helping until 1978 when the highway came through. She worked for Olson’s Building Supply, opened her own carpet shop, and eventually became dispatch for the Strathmore Handi-Bus which she really loved. Where people best got to know her wonderful nature, Marion volunteered with the Hospital Auxillary. Eventually, she had a bad fall and wound up at Strathmore Lodge and then the Southwood Nursing Home in Calgary in 2008. She looked forward to the regular special occasion family dinners and the Friday visits from Pat and Rob until her passing. Her visits from Judy & Rod were extra special because they traveled to visit her. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Wheatland Funeral Chapel in Strathmore. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion’s name made be made to the Strathmore Hani-Bus, 680 Westchester Road, Strathmore, Alberta T1P 1J1.
