Obituary of Kevin Barry PENNEY

PENNEY, Kevin Barry August 22, 1949 – May 25, 2015 It is with grieving hearts that we, his family, announce his passing. Some knew him as Kevin, but I knew him as my husband, Barry, and father of my children Catherine and William. Barry will be remembered and sorely missed by those he left behind; his wife and soulmate, Linda Romaniuk-Penney; children Catherine (Devin); William (Shelby); Nancy, and her children Samantha and Patrick, and Samantha’s daughter, Destiny; April (Derrick) and their children Tyler (Danielle), Sabrina, and Dana and Tyler and Danielle’s daughter Neveah; Chris (Charlene) and their daughter Ava; and Rene (Louis) and their son Trace. Barry is also survived by one sister, Shirley; brother-in-law Bon Clouter (Ruth); sisters-in-law Sylvi Penny (Gerald), Valerie Hancock, and Diane Minichiello; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by brothers Alvin, Eric, Gerald, and Wilf; and sisters Wilamina, Greta (Beth) and Ruth. Barry was born in Bonavista Hospital in Newfoundland on August 22, 1949 and resided with his parents Belah (Bill) Penney and Nellie (Victoria) Pitt-Penney in Cannings Cove, Nfld. Although he was a Welding Engineer/Inspector by trade, his first job when he left home was cooking and that’s what we did when he got ill: Cooking and Catering. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (60 Maplewood Drive, Strathmore) at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation (#200, 119-14th St. N.W., Calgary, T2N 1Z6).
