WAGLER, Lavern Rudy September 18, 1951 – April 8, 2015 It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lavern Rudy Wagler, a devoted husband, dedicated father, honourable son and brother, as well as veteran with the Canadian Armed Forces. Lavern was born in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario on September 18, 1951, to Harvey and Edna Wagler. Lavern is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sonya Wagler, his son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Elayne Wagler, his daughter and son-in-law Nadeen and Terry Lafferty, his four-legged canine partners Maxwell, Jeeter, Buster, Mac and Molly, his siblings Mary, Milton, Ray, Delford, Harvey, Ervin, Ruth and Edward, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lavern is predeceased by his parents Harvey and Edna Wagler, and Brother Delton, all of Wellesley, Ontario. Lavern’s journey through life was filled with many great achievements, including his dedication to the Canadian Armed Forces with who he served 26 years. His service included two oversee tours in Cypress as a peacekeeper. Lavern was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, as a Sergeant of Arms of the Colour Party. Since retiring from the military, Lavern worked in highway maintenance and safety. Lavern’s hobbies and interests included cooking, gardening, carpentry, watching curling, spending time with family, and avidly cheering on his Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. To those who knew Lavern well, they would describe him as direct, stubborn, and spoke his mind with a dry sense of humor, but deep down had a heart of gold and was filled with love and admiration for those close to him. Lavern will greatly missed by his loved ones near and far, as well as his Military Family. Lavern is now reunited with his special friend Coalie. To follow the wishes of Lavern and Family, he will be cremated in Strathmore, Alberta. The service to celebrate Lavern’s life will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Royal Canadian Legion in Strathmore, Alberta at 14:00.
