I had met Mitchell when I first had started working at Smiley’s back in 2015. Mitchell was one of those guys that I was nervous to make conversation with because of how focused he could be at his job when he was working in the kitchen. But after working a few weeks with him here and there, the one thing that truly got us to become great friends was our love for Hockey. He always knew how to get under my skin when we would talk smack about each others teams, but whenever he wanted to play NHL on the xbox whether it was at his house or when we had to stay late at Smiley’s for fan cleaning maintenance, I was the first one he asked to be company with him there. When I think back at the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals, I not only think just about my team winning it, but I remember the two people who celebrated with me and gave praise first. Richard and of course...Mitchell, I still remember the words he said to me the day after “Yeah, Your Caps did alright! But my Flames got it next year! Mark it down!”
It hurts alot thinking back on those words not out of pain but out of the passion he had for the game of hockey and his flames he isn’t around anymore and that passion connected us close and brought us together. Its gonna take alot of time getting used to not seeing his snapchat stories of hockey games, him playing goalie or getting a random snap from him just having fun.
He treated me like a brother, and I couldn’t thank him enough for the work ethics he taught me while working at Smiley’s and I can proudly say he helped me shape my skills to what it has become in the Food Industry. I wish I could go back and revisit moments like those forever, but these memories will do just fine, I hope you’re up there watching the NHL Playoffs and having a nice cold Rum n Coke! I can’t wait to meet again with you and maybe...just maybe your Flames will have another Cup by then! I hope to hear a long list of chirps you got to say to me by then too! Rest Well Mitchell. You were a great friend, wonderful brother and even more amazing father and husband. I send my deepest condolences to Faten, their children and the rest of the Alame Family.
