Obituary of Melva Marlene HAGER

HAGER, Melva Marlene September 17, 1946 – March 5, 2015 Melva Hager (nee Gustavsen) passed away on March 5 at Strathmore Hospital. She was a loving mother, aunt, and wife. She will be deeply missed by her mother, Lillian Gustavsen; husband of 48 years, Ken; sons Todd and Troy; stepson Robin (Leslie) Peoples and their kids; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mom grew up in Hussar her whole life except for a brief time in Calgary where she met the love of her life. Ken and Marlene moved to Hussar in 1966 and farmed until retirement in 1998. They moved to Airdrie for a short time and then to Strathmore in 2000. Marlene worked in the curling rink as a bartender for years and at Walmart in Strathmore. She retired July 14, 2014 and courageously fought cancer until the end. The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and for visiting Mom in palliative care. She loved your visits and they meant a lot to her. Thank you to the staff at Strathmore Hospital for all the care and support given to Marlene.
