Obituary of Katherine Joanne THUMANN-RANKIN

THUMANN-RANKIN, Katherine Joanne Katherine Joanne Thumann-Rankin was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on June 24, 1957. She passed away on January 25, 2015. Kathy is survived by her husband, Terry W. Rankin, her grandson, Jared Kleinsasser, her mother, Rita J. Thumann, her sisters, Janet B. Molnar (Don), Linda V. Macleod (Steve), Jacqueline J. Glowienka (Rob), Lana Y. Cicalo (Rick), and her brother, Karl R. Thumann (Sarah). She also leaves many loving nephews, nieces, extended family and dear friends. Kathy was pre-deceased by her father, Karl M. Thumann, and her son, Jason, and daughter Whitney. Kathy Jo, as she was fondly known, owned Quality Trailer Sales with her husband Terry, and worked at Calgary Co-operative store in Strathmore, Alberta for 24 years. Kathy was a sharp business woman. She also was great cook, an avid reader, enjoyed crosswords and bingo. Many a casino lost the bank to her on several occasions. A classy, stylish lady who loved to shop, she also enjoyed vacations in Phoenix at their condo with Terry. Kathy also was a generous soul, who supported various charities, and helped others whenever she saw an opportunity. Sadly, Kathy only discovered she had cancer in late fall of 2014. She fought bravely, and wanted to stay with us. But she was looking forward to heaven and seeing her kids and father again. We will miss her so much. She believed in miracles. She remained positive and courageous to the end, and worried more about us than her own problems. She was glad to have her family around her when she went to Jesus. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Lord of All Lutheran Church, Strathmore at 1:00 p.m. Interment Strathmore Cemetery.
