Obituary of Gloria Arelene Schaefer

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Gloria Schaefer. Gloria was born February 24, 1940 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan to her loving parents Henry and Ermia Traverse.
She started her life on the Prairie and at the age of ten, moved to the mountains in Canal Flats, BC. In her early twenties she moved back to the Prairie to stay with her brother Wilbert and sister-in-law Helen in Regina where she met her love, Alvin. Together, Gloria and Alvin started a family and an adventure that would take them to three provinces and many homes. They finally settled in Strathmore and into retirement where they were able to be close to Sheila and family.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents; Henry and Ermia, siblings: Verna, Charles, Wilbert, Bud, Buster, Earl, Donald, and Gladys. Gloria will be forever remembered and greatly missed by her children Doug (Krista) Schaefer and Sheila (Arthur) Tucker and beloved grandsons: Alex, Mitchell, Jack and James, her sister Muriel Larson, her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews and a great many others.
Gloria loved being with her grandsons and her family, as well as working in her garden with Alvin. She will always be remembered for her kind heart, sweet disposition and beautiful smile.  
Due to covid restrictions, a private family funeral service will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Wheatland Funeral Chapel, Strathmore, AB
