It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Dorothy Grace Stinn (nee Silbernagel), our loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, who passed away suddenly on November 30th, 2021, at the age of 85.
She leaves to mourn her children, Stanley Stinn (Michelle), Gary Stinn (Brenda), Darryl Stinn (Michelle), Cheryl Lesyk (Dan), Sean Stinn (Paula) and Patti Van Bavel (Joseph) and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Betty, Lorraine, Joyce, Tom, and Harry and several extended family and friends.
Dorothy is predeceased by her mother Margaret Simpson; her stepfather Burt Simpson; her father Felix Silbernagel; her sister Theresa Schmaltz; and her infant daughter, Dorothy Sylvia Stinn.
Dorothy was born on April 12,1936 in Beiseker and grew up in the Beiseker and Rockyford areas. She married Sylvan Stinn and, after several years working away, they returned to Rockyford to raise a family. Dorothy called Rockyford home for many years, before moving to Sagewood in Strathmore.
Dorothy was very involved in her community and an active member of many clubs and organizations. She had the biggest heart and was always willing to volunteer wherever she was needed.
Entertaining and spending time with her family and friends was one of Dorothy’s favorite pastimes. She enjoyed supporting her family in all of their activities and loved gathering with her friends for card games, puzzles, birthday cake and watching the Blue Jays and the Flames. Dorothy was always busy doing crafts, sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, baking, gardening, diamond dot, and her greatest role was always that of Mother and Grandmother.
