Obituary of Thomas Gerald Franklin Anderson

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we say goodbye to our beloved father, partner, papa, brother, uncle, and friend, Thomas Gerald Anderson (Gerry) who passed away on January 20, 2022, at the age of 68 years. 

Gerry was born in Strathmore, Alberta, on October 8, 1953, to Thomas and Frances Anderson. He spent most of his childhood in Strathmore and Calgary.  He was a real daredevil and a good jokester as a young boy.  His sense of humor started at a young age and carried through to his final moments.

Gerry is survived by his partner Diane Soucy; his children Lise, JR (Shannon), Cindy (Wes), Steven (Caiti), Stacy (Ryan) and Nicole (James); sister Judy; his cherished and so loved grandchildren, Lacey, Dakota, Shyla, Dawson, Reese, Braiden, Jadyn, Mikayla, Dylin, Carter, Kylie and Arlo; and his great-grandchild Layla; his nephews and numerous friends. 

He is predeceased by his mother Frances, father Thomas; his brother in-law Ted; and his beloved dog, Bear. 

Gerry was one tough SOB – he was like a cat and had many lives. He overcame many health obstacles and fought so hard for his family. He defied all odd and always made a full recovery.  

There was no doubt Gerry enjoyed his life, and his infamous mustache-smile and belly laugh will always be remembered. He made memories with his family and friends doing the things he loved, such as camping, hunting, being with friends, having a few cold ones, and enjoying a smoke. His favourite thing to say was “Let me finish my coffee and smoke and then we will go.”

He was cherished by so many people, and his children adored him immensely. His way of saying he was proud of them was to lovingly refer to them as “dumb ass.” 

Gerry built Town and Country Heating, a successful business from ground up, and prided himself on his craftsmanship. He was a man of many talents. He was your guy for plumbing, mechanical, cooking, and heating – just to name a few. If you needed something fixed or had a question about anything, Gerry was your go-to man. If he didn’t know, he’d tell you something anyway.

He wore his heart on his sleeve and would do anything for anyone. He has left an impact on everyone he knew, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
