Jennifer Mantha

Obituary of Jennifer Ann Mantha

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jennifer Ann Mantha, a loving daughter, mother, wife, grandmother, friend, and colleague. Jennifer’s last moments were spent in the comfort of her home surrounded by her husband Mark; daughters Samantha and Stephanie where she passed away peacefully on the evening of February 5, 2022.

Jennifer was born on October 31, 1954, in North Bay, Ontario. Jennifer, growing up surrounded by water, could be found occupying her time swimming, canoeing with friends and generally up to No Good. She later joined the Young Communist Association, a bit of a rebel I’m assuming, with the objective of pursuing the attention of a young man. As time went on, Jennifer pursued travel, music, the outdoors and cooking with her husband Mark and daughters. Jennifer also enjoyed board games as well as cards, being competitive, she often was a sore loser and usually offered a comment about cheating in good humor.

As a young adult and a single parent, Jennifer raised two daughters while pursuing an education at the University of Calgary, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degrees in 1990 and completed her academic aspirations with a Master of Education in 2010. An accomplished science teacher with over 20 years of experience teaching First Nations adult learners eventually led into a rewarding career where she applied her experience, skills, and passion as a Health Promotion Facilitator at Alberta Health Services.

A beautiful, vibrant, empowered, and highly intelligent woman, Jennifer brought inspiration and joy to those she touched.

Jennifer is survived by her husband Mark; and two daughters Samantha and Stephanie (Dave); Stepdaughter Rebecca (Clint); and grandchildren. Jennifer is predeceased by her parents June Violet Courchesne and Joseph Paul Mantha.
