Obituary of Deborah Lee MacPherson
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Deborah Lee MacPherson of Strathmore, Alberta, at the age of 65 years. Deborah passed peacefully in her sleep, the morning of August 5, 2022 at Tudor Manor in Okotoks, Alberta after a long, progressive struggle with A.L.S.
She will be forever missed by her husband of 43 years, Duncan; children Alex (Tara), Robert, and Rory (Samantha); grandchildren Zavien, Oliver, Rowan, Evelyn, Gyda, and Hilde; her brother, sister, many nephews, nieces, aunt, uncle, in-laws, and many friends and associates. Deborah was predeceased by her father, mother, many aunts and uncles, in-law, and distant relatives.
Everyone who knew Deborah saw her as a loving, giving, and thoughtful person.
She was a collector of stories of people and was always ready to get yours. Whether you were a life-long friend or a total stranger she just met at the grocery store, she always had time to chat. And chat she did.
Deborah was a passionate lover of animals, books, and music. She attended countless live shows showcasing some of her favorite artists; the most important, of course, were her kids and grand kids concerts and plays. She had many pets over the years who were loved very much. Her home was filled with music, books, pets, and love.
Deborah loved her family with a fiery passion. She sacrificed and worked tirelessly for her children and especially her grandchildren as they grew, always available for hugs, snuggles, and a good read to them from their favorite story books. Deborah would often be found curled up with one or more of her grandchildren by her side, going for a walk to the park, or in the kitchen making food for her family, or chocolate chip cookies to keep the cookie jar full.
Well, Deborah Lee MacPherson, the cookie jar is full and will forever be that way with the help of family and friends. We’ll tend to it from now on. You have a rest right now where you are, a place where love, peace, and beauty surround you forever. Farewell Sweet Child.
Many thanks to the staff at the Strathmore Hospital, our Alberta Ambulance Services, the staff at Tudor Manor Long Term Care in Okotoks, and the staff at the A.L.S. Society of Alberta. Your compassion, love, understanding, and kindness are to your credit. Thank you again.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Wheatland Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. A gathering for friends and family will follow at Strathmore Station from 3:00 p.m – 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the ALS Society of Alberta (www.alsab.ca/donate).
