Obituary of Albert Ballum Knappe

Guy Knappe passed away suddenly on January 23rd, 2023. Guy was born in Calgary on August 12th, 1943. He was raised in Standard and moved to Calgary as a young man where he gained proficiency in the Sheet Metal Trade. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Irene, on July 10th, 1969. They raised four children in Calgary before moving to Strathmore in 1992.

Guy is survived by his four children: Melicia (Lawrence) Yaskow; Steven (Candace) Knappe; Anita (Mike) Layh; and Suzan (Dustin) Dodd; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Margaret (Clayton) Sailer; Birk (Stella) Knappe; and Terri (Brian) Douglas; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. 

Guy is predeceased by his wife, Irene; his parents, Petrea and Herbert; sister, Helene; and great grandson, Quinton. 

A Celebration of Life will be held, on Sunday, February 5th, 2023, at the Strathmore Royal Canadian Legion Hall #10 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the Strathmore Legion.
