Obituary of Doris Loretta Paris

Doris passed peacefully early on March 19, 2023. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, John, she is survived by son Guy (Wendy) Paris and daughter Marlyn (David) Townsend.

She will also be missed by grandchildren, Jason (Kerri) Paris and Douglas (Yolanda) Paris; great-grandchildren, Alex, Tia, Lucas, Isaac, Reid, Mairi; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Doris was the daughter of Mac and Jessie Drake and grew up with brother Bob on a farm south of Cheadle. She attended the Fairplay School and Western Canada High School. She then worked for the Royal Bank before marrying John in 1947. John and Doris farmed south of Cheadle for many years. Doris worked on the family farm and later supported John in his real estate career. They lived in Red Deer and Calgary before settling in Strathmore in 2000. But they never completely gave up the farm life and loved their acreage in Bluffton. The two were inseparable and worked together on many church and other volunteer projects as well as travelling extensively.

Doris was a devout Christian and looked forward to joining John and other relatives when her time here was done. She had a gift for connecting with people and had friends and fans of all ages and descriptions. The family extends thanks to all these special friends for being such a huge part of her life.

She was active in her church and caring group; and enjoyed annual motorcycle and combine rides up to and including her 100th year. She loved her music and played her last piano piece in her final week.

A gracious and remarkable lady who led an inspiring life!

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 27, 2023, at Hope Community Covenant Church (Strathmore), at 11:00 am. Reception to follow.
