Obituary of Max Fernand Hoff

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Max Hoff of Strathmore, AB on Mar. 25, 2023 at the age of 85 years.
Max was born November 22, 1937 at Cluny, AB, to Adolf and May Hoff. Max spent high school living in the dorms at Cluny but finished his last year at Camrose Lutheran College. He then attended Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute where he met Mary [nee Amdam], whom he would later marry. Max attended Caltech in Calgary studying Agricultural Mechanics and then went on to farm in Gleichen. It was during this time that Max married and started a family.
Max enjoyed farming, but another of his loves was flying. He got his commercial flying license, took a crop dusting course and started a flying business in Fort St. John, BC. Until he retired Max farmed and flew and moved with the family between Gleichen and Fort St. John. He was always an active member of his church community.
If Max had a hobby, it was visiting with friends over a cup of coffee, whether at the Hilltop, at hunting camp, or at MacDonalds in Strathmore.
Max will be missed by Mary, his wife of 59 years; children: Wayne (Ann), Dean (Julie), Stephen (Charman), Darryl (Lori), Oneya, Kate (Jay) and Jonathan; 13 grandchildren; siblings: Vern, Lorraine, and Ken (Judy); as well as numerous relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Monday April 3, 2023 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Hussar, AB at 1:00 pm.
