Obituary of Robert Anthony Doyle

On May 4th, 2023, after an illness he fought with courage and determination, Robert (Bob) Doyle, circled by his family, passed away at Foothills hospital in Calgary AB.

He was born in Saint John, NB on December 16, 1943, to the late Charles Doyle and Eva (Patterson) Doyle. He spent much of his life in Saint John where he was a welder by trade and worked at Ocean Steel and Rothesay Paper. 

There wasn’t much Bob couldn’t do, from building a house including electrical and plumbing to making toy trucks. Even in his early 70’s he was hanging on the rafters of his daughter Susan’s ‘she shed’ that he helped build. He passed on his passion and ability to work with his hands to his children and Son-in-Law Scott who learned so much from him.

Bob moved to Calgary in 1991 and loved it immediately. In 2006 he chose to retire in NB but he moved back to Alberta, where all his children now live, 2011. He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed many years of camping, fishing, and hunting. 

Bob is survived by his Partner of 31 years Donna Clack, his children Susan Clark (Scott), Sean Doyle (Krista) and Scott Doyle (Natalie). His grandchildren, which he loved, Corey Clark, Jessica Clark (Jordan), Tyler Doyle, Bella Doyle and Samantha Doyle. He will also be missed by Donna’s children Debby and Brian as well as many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. His beloved pets will also miss him, his Golden Retriever Chance and cats, Cooper, Wylie and Tux.

Bob was pre-deceased by all of his siblings Patricia Carson, Stephen Doyle, Barbara Chipman, David Doyle and Olive Dunn.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any SPCA or a charity of choice.
