RIESS, David July 9, 1942 to October 5, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. David Riess passed away peacefully on October 5th with family by his side. David is survived by his loving wife Jette (nee Henriksen) of over 48 years and his two sons Kelly (Traci) and Kenneth (Lisa); grandchildren Michael (Elizabeth), Erica and Colton and great grandchildren Dawson, Shaelynn, Raelee and Bodie. David will also be missed by his four-legged buddies, Norman and Tucker. David was born on the family homestead in Birch Creek, SK to parents John and Hilma (nee Erickson) and was the second oldest of five children (Darlene, Inga, Glen and Virgil). At a young age, David moved to Kindersley, SK where he worked as a farmhand. Then in 1962, he moved to Calgary (Bowness) and married Jette on June 4, 1966. David started his trucking career as a mobile home transport driver. He then became an owner/operator and worked for numerous trucking companies doing long haul work throughout North America. David loved to tell stories about his trucking adventures and could remember every mile he drove and every load he hauled.In 1975 the family moved to High River, AB where the two boys were raised. Then, in 1992, David and Jette moved to Calgary (Erinwoods). In 1995 they moved to Grandview, MB and in 2006, moved to Kelly and Traci’s farm near Strathmore, AB where he spent his final years helping Kelly with farming. David was a wonderful man and touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his warm smile; kindness and generosity; his loving and caring ways and for giving his time freely to anyone who asked for a hand. David had a great sense of humor and was known for telling numerous jokes and stories.
