Obituary of Geordie Clifford Praeker
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our much-loved son, brother, uncle, & friend, Geordie Clifford Praeker. Geordie was born August 12, 1992, in Strathmore and passed away on June 25, 2023, at the age of 30. Geordie was one of five children and grew up as part of the fourth-generation family farm. He had an adoration for cattle, and the farming lifestyle.
Geordie was well known and loved in the community. He enjoyed many events and activities with his “Friendship Group” over the years. Geordie and his mom, Barb, fulfilled a lifelong dream when they created “Geordie’s Goodies” which ran for 8 years filling people's hearts with fresh baked goods.
He was a long-standing professional sports fan, and later found a passion for watching his nieces and nephews in their local games. A recent life highlight for Geordie was stepping onto the Calgary Stampeders Turf carrying the Stampeders’ flag. Geordie had an unconditional love for all those he surrounded. He enjoyed spending his time traveling from adventure to adventure visiting friends & family. There was no greater joy for Geordie than watching his nieces and nephews grow. He loved to laugh, tease, and play with them. Geordie loved to attend social events and he certainly had some Barn Burner Birthday Parties that were enjoyed by all who loved him.
Geordie's faith was inspirational. He had a great love for God and Christ. He enjoyed many Sundays attending Church with his friends and family. Each person Geordie met was valuable and special in their own unique way. Geordie never put value on people’s social status, to him, each person was perfect in God’s eyes.
Geordie is lovingly missed by his Dad, Herman; Mom, Barb; Sister Brienne (Mitch) Reese, & Maddie; Sister Alicea (Isaac), & E; Brother Francis (Jena), Jack, Alexis, Nina, & Audrey; Brother Cole (Breanne), Oliver, & Maeve. Geordie was predeceased by his Grandparents Bill and Marie Louise Praeker, Tom and Lorna Stockwell, Uncle Ron and many other family and friends that he loved.
Although the family appreciates the thought of flowers and gifts, in lieu of this, donations in honour of Geordie, may be directed directly to Hope Bridges (www.hopebridges.ca) Geordie’s favorite non-profit organization.
