Obituary of Roy Francis Kenworthy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, husband, and Papa at the age of 73.

 

After graduating from Rockyford School in 1967, Roy studied agricultural mechanics at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). Following school, in 1973, Roy and his brother David took over the family business in Rockyford, AB. Roy thrived on the farm with his love of cattle, crops, and of course his dogs always beside him. Roy married Shauna Harrington and proudly raised their 2 sons, Bret and Tom, on the farm. 

Later, in 2002, Roy retired from the farm hustle and enjoyed residing In Strathmore, AB, with the love of his life, Joanne Skibsted. He continued with a more simple and relaxed career working for Wheatland County until fully retiring in 2015. 

Roy really enjoyed this relaxing pace; going to Flames games, long country drives, family visits, being a loving Papa to his grandchildren, naps, and watching baseball.

Roy was predeceased by his parents Francis and Mary Kenworthy, brother Jim Kenworthy (Gail) and his sister Marian Petkau. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Skibsted, sons Bret (Ana Karinna) and Tom, step children Bryce (Amy) and Sara (Tyrell), grandchildren Madeline and Christian, brothers David (Kelly) and Ron (Patty).

A celebration of life will be held July 23rd from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Strathmore Travel Lodge.
