Obituary of Irene Heinzlmeir

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Irene Heinzlmeir, of Strathmore, Alberta on September 27, 2023 at the age of 85 years.

Irene will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Harold; children: Murray (Maria) and Danny; grandchildren Emma, Aaron, and Jacob; brother, Jim (Mary) Bazant and sister-in-law Anita Bazant as well as numerous friends and relatives.  She was predeceased by her brother Ted Bazant.

Irene was born and raised on the family farm in the Strathmore area to loving parents Walter and Theresa Bazant. She graduated High School in Strathmore and went on to take a business administration course and work in Calgary. Soon after she was to meet her future husband, Harold, having been set up on a blind date by a mutual friend. After meeting, they were inseparable! Together they went on to buy a farm, raise a family and enjoy their retirement. Irene always worked hard, had a sharp wit and a big heart.  Though she struggled with health problems in her later years, she never complained, she fought hard and put on a brave face, always more concerned with everyone else.  She will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Strathmore Hospital for their care and compassion.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at St Rita’s Catholic Church, Rockyford, Alberta at 11:00 a.m.
