Obituary of Gordon Glen Grant

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Grant. Gordon, born in Standard, Alberta, on June 14, 1931, passed away on October 9, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering loyalty.
Gordon,s early years were marked by his passion for hockey and baseball. He pursued his education and interests, studying farm mechanics at Calgary Tech, where he met the love of his life, Margaret Cammaert.  Gordon and Margaret exchanged vows in Calgary in 1952. Their family soon grew with the arrival of their first son, Terry. Subsequently, they purchased a farm north of
Standard, where they raised pigs, cattle, and farmed grain. A few years later, they welcomed their second son, Ian, followed by their youngest daughter, Stacy.
Gordon and Margaret became integral members of their community, their dedication shining through in countless ways. Gordon's commitment to the betterment of Standard was evident in his role as a founding member of the Lions Club, a group that raised
funds to build the cherished indoor ice arena in Standard. He was actively involved in local hockey teams, where he coached and shared his knowledge and passion for the game with young athletes. As his children grew, he also became a prominent figure in
the local rodeo scene helping support its development.
After his fruitful farming career, Gordon transitioned into roles as a land agent for oil and gas companies and later as a crop adjuster for insurance companies.
In his retirement years, Gordon and Margaret enjoyed the fruits of their labor, traveling throughout the United States and Mexico. They purchased a second home in Arizona, where they could escape the cold Canadian winters, and Gordon indulged in his
passion for golf, rodeo, fishing, and his beloved Great Danes. 
Gordon was known for his stoic demeanor, a matter-of-fact attitude, and an unwavering sense of loyalty to his friends and family. His presence was a source of strength and support to all who knew him.
Gordon is survived by his children, Terry (Susan), Ian (Hillary), Stacy (Cliff); his grandchildren, Casey (Christina), Amanda (Wace), Chelsea (Steve), Riley (Allyson), and Hannah (Colin); as well as his four great grandchildren, Makayla, Mia, Keely and Jack.
They will continue to carry on his legacy of dedication, love, and community spirit. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to be a part of his life.
Gordon Grant will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
As per Gordon's and Margaret's wishes, there will be no services.
