Peter Denny

Obituary of Peter Lyle Denny

Peter Lyle Denny was born on June 17, 1956 in Montreal, Quebec to Sydney and Rita Denny. Peter grew up in Montreal before moving to Alberta, along with his parents and his older brother, Steve. In 1990 Peter’s pride and joy was born, his son, Matthew.

Peter was a man who cared about everyone, loved animals, sports, and was never short a joke.

In his younger years, Peter loved to ride his horse Tameco and proudly rode in several Calgary Stampede parades. Along with Tameco, his cat Boots and his son’s dog Dallas held a special place in Peter’s animal-loving-heart.

While raising his son, Peter found much joy in coaching soccer teams – from early age teams up to a men’s league. He enjoyed sharing his love of sports and building friendships throughout his coaching career. Peter also avidly cheered for the Calgary Flames and the Dallas Cowboys and loved to recap games with his son.

Peter lived a care-free life, living each day as he saw fit. He loved raising and watching his son grow, watching his son get married in 2021, and have his first and only grandchild in September 2023. Peter was the proudest Papa around and found so much joy in showing off his granddaughter Hailey to everyone he came across.

Peter was predeceased by his parents Sydney and Rita Denny and brother Steve Denny. Peter is survived by his son Matthew (Adelle) Denny, granddaughter Hailey Denny, and sister-in-law Carole Denny.

A celebration of life will be held on Nov. 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Wheatland Funeral Home.
