Muriel Johnson

Obituary of Muriel Caroline Johnson

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Muriel Johnson. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, Aunty & friend. She will be deeply missed by her children Grant (Wendy) Johnson and Rob (Leslie) Johnson; her grandchildren Christopher (Judy) Johnson, Krystle (Bart) Thompson, Jaime Wood, Kristy (Trevor) Boltwood, Richard Johnson, Brett Johnson, Shane Iwasiw, and Kelsi-Lynn (Braden) Corbiel; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Vernon (Barney) Johnson; her son Richard Johnson; her mother Hilda MacPherson; father Matthew McCabe; and all of her siblings.

Muriel was born in Somme, Saskatchewan and moved to Alberta at the young age of 15 and met her soul mate Vern in Albert Park/Calgary, Alberta at the age of 17. Muriel and Vern were married in 1954, and this is where their dance through life began. Muriel immediately devoted her life to her family. Her boys were the apple of her eye, and they could never do wrong. She was their biggest fan, cheerleader, and supporter in anything they did.  Muriel loved to bake and loved it even more when she could share her baking with her family and friends.  Muriel loved spending time with all her family and was most happy when she had absolute chaos in her house. Muriel loved spending the summer in the garden and had one of the most beautiful gardens around.

Mom/Grandma/Aunty will be missed terribly, she was the driving force and foundation behind our family. We hope she continues her dance in heaven with her husband and son.

We will be holding a Celebration of Muriel’s Life on Saturday, December 2, 2023, beginning at 1:00pm until 4:00pm at Happy Gang Seniors Center (85A Lakeside Blvd., Strathmore, AB)
