Obituary of Peter Christoffer Furhovde

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our valiant and courageous Peter Furhovde, who peacefully left this world on November 1, 2023, at the age of 59, surrounded by light, love, and support at Strathmore Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Peter found joy in the love of his family, cherishing every moment spent with his admiring stepdaughters and his beloved wife and soulmate, Cindy, whom he married on a beautiful summer day in Nova Scotia on July 16th, 2011. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, who adoringly referred to him as ‘Papa’.

Peter had a passion for motorcycling, embracing the thrill of the ride, and finding adventure with his greatest love, Cindy. Together, they shared many precious moments from the seats of their bikes, exploring the open road and taking in all the beauty the world has to offer. He used his compassion and wit eagerly to share his passions and knowledge with anyone he knew, and his demeanor was always tender, yet guiding. His endearing smile and idyllic giggle was shared freely with those who were lucky enough to know him.

Professionally, Peter dedicated his talents as a Quality Assurance Analyst to his work at Hedgerow Software. Peter was not only part of a working team, he was very much loved and cherished as a member of Hedgerow’s workplace family, whose ongoing support continues to touch all of those who loved him.

But above all, Peter will be remembered for his unwavering kindness and boundless love. He had a remarkable ability to spread warmth and peace to everyone he knew, leaving a lasting impression on all those fortunate enough to cross his path. With his impish grin and his sense of humor, his genuine nature endeared him to countless friends and acquaintances, creating a network of love and support that surrounded him throughout his life.

Born on March 19, 1964, Peter was predeceased by his father Erling Furhovde, and is survived by his wife and soulmate, Cindy Furhovde; mother Laurel Bradley; stepmother Barbara Furhovde; brother Billy Furhovde; sister Katie (Ron) Mohammed, and her children Matthew Mohammed and Hannah (Marius) Henken. In addition, Peter is survived by his stepdaughters, Carolyn (Corey) Burns and Charlene (Aldrin Fulo) Aikens, and grandchildren Caellan and Lillian Burns, who held a special place in his heart. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, inspiring those who knew him to carry his light forward.

The memory of Peter Furhovde will forever remain alive in our hearts. A celebration of Peter’s life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at C4 - 416 Meridian Road SE, Calgary, AB T2A 1X2.
