Vernon Neiszner

Obituary of Vernon Jacob Neiszner

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful departure of Vern Neiszner on November 27, 2023. Vern, a proud native of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love.

At the age of eighteen, Vern enlisted in the Canadian Navy, embarking on a journey of service that spanned four years and took him to Halifax and various countries. Settling in Weyburn at twenty-two, he began building a family before relocating to Calgary in 1969. There, Vern forged a remarkable career in the Pipe Trades, a commitment that lasted over 50 years, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers, particularly within UA 496.

In 1984, Vern's life took another beautiful turn when he met Barbara, his second wife. Their union in 1995 brought them immeasurable joy. In 2002, Vern and Barbara started a new chapter in Strathmore.

A man of few words, Vern's loyalty and dedication were evident in every aspect of his life. A loving husband, father, and friend, Vern's quiet strength and reserved nature endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Retirement granted him the opportunity to indulge in the simple pleasures of life, from camping and fishing to the joy of sharing a beer with friends in his garage.

Vern is preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Alice and his brother Richard. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara of 28 years, sons Kevin, Nathan (Trish), and Andrew (Angie), cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings Ruth, Walter (Tanya), George (Amy), and sister-in-law Ariel.

Despite facing health challenges over the past six years, Vern faced them with resilience and unwavering strength, always supported by his loving family. His absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Veterans Food Bank, a cause close to Vern's heart, reflecting his commitment to service through RCL #10, Strathmore.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Vern's memory, a time for friends and family to come together and share stories of a life well-lived.
