Obituary of Marjorie Ellen JOHANSEN

JOHANSEN (Groves), Marjorie Ellen July 7,1933 – August 8, 2017 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marjorie Ellen Johansen on August 8, 2017 at the age of 84. Marje was born on the family farm at Carseland, Alberta July 7, 1933 and was the third of five siblings born to Jim and Mabel Groves. She loved the outdoors, helping with the chores, riding horses, swimming in the canal, and all sports. She married her high school sweetheart, Alfred, in 1953 and they moved to Hussar where they farmed and raised their six children. She loved the community of Hussar and enjoyed curling, coaching baseball and raising her family. In 1989 they moved back to the Carseland farm where they resided until moving to Strathmore in 2008. Marjorie is survived by her husband of 64 years of marriage, Alfred. Her children Don (Nancy), Jack (Glenda), Bruce (Heather), Dale (Tammy), Connie (Daryl), Guy (Marni). She is also survived by her “Ray’s of Sunshine”, her 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson Drew in 1983. She will be remembered for more reasons then we can count. A “Celebration of her Life” will take place on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the Strathmore Civic Centre at 2:00 p.m. If friends and family so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wheatland Area Hospice Society.
