Obituary of John Frederick Sales

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Frederick Sales who passed away suddenly at home on December 12, 2023.  John was born on April 4, 1955, in Calgary to Fred and Margaret Sales.  He grew up in Calgary and moved to southern Alberta where John met the love of his life, Debra.  John and Deb moved to Gleichen, Alberta in 2000 and were married on December 17, 2015.  More can be read about John and Deb in Memories Recalled: District of Cluny and Gleichen 2014, p. 606.

Back in his day, John worked construction and he carried the knowledge he gained from this employment with him his entire life.   In 2000, John formed his company J & D Hauling, known by the local farmers as Shit Moovers as he offered cleaning services for feedlots, pens, and corrals.  During work and play John made many lifelong friends and, as a family man, John absolutely cherished his family.   

John leaves behind his loving wife, Debra; 8 fur babies; children, Joanne, Darren, and Trish; stepchildren Darcy and Josh; grandchildren, Harrison, Thomas, Alex, and Darrius; and his adopted son, Justin.  He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.  We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Deb knows how truly blessed her and John’s life together has been.   Their humble home and the good friends and neighbors who often visit their home have provided them with many treasured memories.  Thus, an open house Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from noon at John and Deb’s cherished residence, 222001 Rge Rd 225B, Gleichen, AB.

Everyone who was privileged to know John will be quick to agree with J/C’s comment that “John was an amazing man who helped anyone he could”.  The list of people who John has helped in long and his life accomplishments are many; he will be sadly missed.
