Obituary of Michael Paul Verweire

In the fair city of Calgary, where we lay our scene, Michael Paul Verweire, known to kin and comrades as Mike, hath departed from this mortal coil on the fourth day of January in the year two thousand and twenty-four. Born under the summer's warm gaze in the year 1965, upon the eighth day of July, in Calgary where he drew his last breath, his soul hath taken its flight, leaving behind a legacy rich with love, toil, and merriment.

Michael, whose heart was as vast as the prairies that cradle Calgary, was stricken by a heart’s rebellion and, thus, was plucked from this earthly garden. He leaves not this world without a trace, but rather a tapestry woven with the threads of his existence. His beloved wife, Debbie, née Jones, remains to cherish his memory, along with their children, Rhett and Rochelle of Calgary. His sister Diana of the same city, his brothers Matthew of Strathmore, and Adam, with his wife Colleen, along with the young Dylan, Cole, and Katelyn of Calgary, stand as testament to his bloodline. The spirits of his parents, Edmond and Margaret, who preceded him in their own journeys beyond, now welcome their son into the realm of eternity. Many extended families remain including beloved aunts and uncles and nieces.

In youth, Michael trod the halls of learning in Strathmore and Drumheller, Alberta, where the seeds of his future were sown. His labor, spanning more than a quarter century, was dedicated to the City of Calgary's wastewater works, a testament to his commitment to the well-being of his fellow citizens. His hands, not averse to toil, also found their tasks within the realms of Burnco and Ken Smith Corral Cleaners. Yet, 'twas the family farm that shaped the very sinews of his being, its lessons carried through all facets of his life, including his involvement with the Crowfoot 4H.

A man of hearty cheer, Michael's soul was ever stirred by the clash of hockey sticks and the thrill of Rhett and Rochelle's hockey games, his voice often joining the fray from the safety of the glass at the arena. His eyes, alight with passion, would follow the roaring engines of Nascar, the swift dance of lacrosse, and hearken back to the days of his youth, where he was a curler of great zeal.

Michael, a man of mirth and might, hath left his mark upon this world, not in fleeting whispers, but in the enduring echoes of his influence. His love for life's simple joys, his unyielding support for his children's endeavors, and his steadfast presence in the lives of his family and community, are but a few of the stars in the constellation of his legacy.

And so, we commit the memory of Michael Paul Verweire to the annals of time, a soul of great Worth, whose journey amongst us shall be remembered with fondness and honor. Though his mortal frame hath succumbed to the inescapable fate that awaits us all, his spirit shall continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to bask in the glow of his life.

Rest well, noble Michael, and may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
