Ruth Wolf

Obituary of Ruth Helen Wolf

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Ruth Helen Wolf (nee Haase) on Sunday, January 21, 2024. She passed away peacefully at the age of 94 years at Sagewood Continuing Care Facility in Strathmore.

Mom (Ruth) is survived by her daughter Sheri, son Gary (Bonnie), daughter in law Sharon; 9 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Eric, son Dean, siblings – Donald, Raymond and Clark Haase and Myrna Templeton.

Mom was born in the family farmhouse near Beisker, on December 21, 1929, to Leo and Martha Haase. She was the eldest of 8 children. She grew up on the family farm, learning all about farm life, helping to raise her younger siblings, and going to school.

She married Eric Wolf on March 19, 1955, in Beisker at the United Church. Over the next few years, they lived in East End, Saskatchewan, Medicine Hat, Alberta and New Westminster, B.C. before moving back to Alberta to first work on the Reuben Keim farm before finally settling on the family farm north of Strathmore, where they resided for many happy years. They raised chickens, Gelbvieh cattle, pigs, a few other farm critters, shipped eggs to the city every week, and milked cows twice a day. Mom separated the cream from the milk and made butter.

Mom (grandma) loved gardening, knitting, crocheting, plastic canvas crafts, coloring, cooking, and baking. Family was special to Mom. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Mom will be remembered for her gently and kind-hearted nature, her willingness to help others, and the love that she had for her family.

We, the family, would like to say thank you to the wonderful staff at Sagewood for the exceptional love, care, and support that you gave to Mom while she was there. It was most appreciated.
