Obituary of Moyosore Odukomaiya

Moyosore Toluwapese Funmi (Nee Olagimju) was born May 19, 1983, in Kaduna, Nigeria to the family of Engineer Odunayo and Mrs Celinah Olagunju, from Igede- Ekiti, Ekiti State Nigeria.

The second child of the family and with four other siblings. Growing up, she attended St Ann’s nursery and primary school in Kaduna State, had her Secondary education at St Mattiahs Secondary School in Akure, Ondo State and Government Girl’s Secondary School, Kaduna State (1994-2000). She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics from Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, Nigeria (2002-2007).

Moyo, a lover of Children with strong passion for impairing knowledge started her work like in her Mum’s School’ Joy of the Lord Nursery Primary School, Ibadan, Oyo State Nigeria’ teaching the young students Mathematics. She thereafter proceeded on the mandatory One-year National Youth Service Corps program working as a Client Service Officer at Wema Homes (Savings and Loans) Limited bank, Oyo state branch in Nigeria. Upon completion of the Program in 2007, the Bank offered her a permanent role with them. She happily accepted the offer and worked with the Bank until 2010, when she voluntarily resigned to pursue a full time Professional Graduate Diploma program in Information Technology offered by British Computer Society (BCS), London, through Imperial College, United Kingdom. In the United Kingdom, she worked as a Data Analyst and I.T. Support. She returned to Nigeria in 2012.

On June 1, 2013, Moyo got married to Olatubosun Oyetola Odukomaiya her husband whom she met in March 2009 in Ibadan while serving. This beautiful union produced a wonderful daughter- Oluwafikunayomi, fondly called Fifi.

Moyosore was employed by the Lagos State Public Service Nigeria in September 2016 and worked in the Ministry of Economics. Planning and Budget as deputy head of Lagos Data Bank, where she oversaw surveys and research for the Lagos State Government and co-ordinating the Bill and Melinda Gates Research Project in Lagos State.

In March 2022, Moyosore, resigned her role with Lagos State Public Service and relocated with her family to Alberta, Canada. She rapidly integrated into the community and the Church of Christ. She was involved in church volunteering, Stampede and Canada day programs. She also worked with the Electoral body in Canada, before starting a role as Technical Support Specialist with Apple Inc.

Moyosore is a very special daughter of God, she gave her life to Christ at an early age and remained a devout Christian even until she slept in the Lord. Her faith in the Father God whom she loves dearly is unwavering, fervently living by God’s word and abiding in His love. Moyo’s faith in God was very strong and she exercised the faith until her very last breath. Her hands were always lifted in moments of worship. Along side her husband, the had Pastored Church branches in Lagos Nigeria and were looking forward to deeper service to God in Canada.

Moyo was exceptionally intelligent, resilient, tenacious, and excelled in all she ventured into. A beautiful, confident, energetic, empathetic, and kind woman. She actively participated in most community activities and her impact was felt wherever she went. She was a beacon of hope for so many and a lover of children. She was firm and strong willed.

She would be greatly remembered for her beautiful smile, selflessness, sacrifices and contribution to her family, friends, loved ones and the communities she was ever a part of.

Moyosore- a loving and devoted wife, an uncommon mother, sacrificial sister, precious daughter and loyal friend, above all precious daughter of the Most High God and lover of Jesus Christ our Saviour will forever be cherished.
