Obituary of Roy Lawrence Duffus

DUFFUS, Roy Lawrence Roy Lawrence Duffus of Strathmore, Alberta passed away on January 9, 2014. Roy is survived by his loving family; daughters Carlene Last (Tim Start), and Lori (Myles) Tytula; grandchildren Rheyanna Last, Michael Tytula and Adam Tytula; brother Allen Duffus; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his wife Shirley Duffus and his grandson, Kelsey Last. Roy was born on February 18, 1933 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. He and his brother Allen spent many happy years in sports and outdoor pursuits. He did his psychiatric nurse training in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where he met and married the love of his life, Shirley Parker, in May 1956. They enjoyed 54 happy years together until her passing in 2010. In 1971 they left Saskatchewan for Alberta. The remaining years were spent in Calgary, Lethbridge, Parksville, Victoria and Strathmore, during which Roy pursued many different careers. Roy and Shirley loved their family, their dogs, fishing, hunting, and spending time at the lakes in Northern Saskatchewan, especially East Trout Lake. Roy touched many lives in the many places that he lived and he will be greatly missed. A special thanks to his special caregivers in his later years; Jean Bizot, Saundra Morgan and Donna Stewart. A private celebration of his life will be held at a future date. Please contact the family if you wish to attend. As you always said, Farewell. We love you dad.
