Obituary of Mildred Jeanette MOEN

MOEN, Mildred Jeanette (Collins) August 16, 1918 – September 22, 2013 With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Mildred at the Strathmore Hospital with family by her side. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mildred was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Vernon, in 2003 and son-in-law Larry Sallis in 1998. She is survived by her four children, Gail Richards (Frank), Carol Sallis (Gordon McNicol), Raymond Moen (Cheryl) and Carman Moen (Judith); thirteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. Mildred was born and raised at Unity, Saskatchewan, completed her education in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and worked as a secretary at the Sanitarium in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She then moved to Elrose, Saskatchewan to continue working at an insurance agency. There she met and married Vernon Moen who farmed at Houghton. In 1953 the family moved to Lyalta to continue farming. Mildred was a considerate, thoughtful, and caring person. She had a strong sense of justice and treated everyone fairly. Mildred loved her family, community, music, art, and reading.
