Obituary of Elmer Kenneth ENEVOLD

ENEVOLD, Elmer Kenneth Elmer Kenneth Enevold, better known as Ken, of Strathmore, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Strathmore Hospital. He was born on January 5, 1921 in Kingman, Alberta, and was one of four children to Peter and Hanna (nee Ostrem) Enevold. Growing up, Ken had attended school in Camrose, Alberta. When Ken was five years old, he and his brother and sisters lost their dad, which left their mother, Hanna, with four young children to raise. A few years passed and Hanna met Martin Erickson and remarried. Martin had land and a farm very close to Camrose. He asked Ken to help him on the farm and to not join the Navy, and that’s when Ken began his farming career. When Hanna and Martin moved into Camrose, Ken, his wife Mona and his daughter Diane, chose to remain on the land. Ken loved the land and was a good farmer. Ken is predeceased by his parents, his older sister Maureen, and his lifetime partner and wife Mona. He is survived by his daughter Diane Barbara Enevold-Woehrand son-in-law Heinz Woehr of Strathmore; brother Tom of Fort Saskatchewan; his older sister Evelyn Baker of Edmonton; grand-daughters Kimberly Melby of Calgary, and Alanna (Carlo) Cooper of Brooks; and great-grandchildren Brody and Connor Melby of Calgary, Zavier Cooper of Brooks, and Alanna Gale of Ontario. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Wheatland Funeral Chapel (202 Lakeside Blvd, Strathmore) at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Dawn Nelson officiating. Ken will be cremated and, along with his wife Mona, will be buried in Camrose at a later date. To send condolences, please visit www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca. Send Condolences
