Obituary of Gordon Harold CHAPMAN

CHAPMAN, Gordon H. October 30, 1925 – July 19, 2013 With great sadness we announce the passing of our Great Grampa Gordy. Gordon was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Dorothy and Harold Chapman. As a young man he served as a Merchant Marine from 1943 – 1945. His travels around the world gave us some pretty colourful stories. As his life settled, he was a “bartender” leading to flat roofing upon his retirement. Moving back to Cranbrook, that quiet time turned into full-time volunteering at the local Fraternal Order of Eagles, along with the Legion; too many good friends there to mention. Gordon finished living out his life in Strathmore. He was predeceased by his wife Eileen and his best friend Tanner, the dog. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Patti and Jake Wagler, and their daughters Shawna, and son Lincoln, and Debbie all of Strathmore; daughters Pam and Penny and their children Derek, Leila, Cliff, Karin, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild all near the Vancouver area. A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Strathmore Royal Canadian Legion Hall at 1:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow.
